Da schau her: Man kann aus Fifty Shades of verkrampftes Wortspiel<\/i> doch noch Spa\u00df rausholen: \u00a7<\/p>\n Endlich bin ich auf eine Besprechung von La La Land<\/i> gesto\u00dfen, die meinen Eindruck wiedergibt und die Worte findet, die mir daf\u00fcr fehlten, n\u00e4mlich von Richard Brody im New Yorker<\/i>. I saw \u201cLa La Land\u201d in a theatre, sitting up close to a big bright screen, and couldn\u2019t tell whether it was filmed on location or in a studio in front of a green screen. (…) [Chazelle’s] big production numbers\u2014a gruff-to-gentle pas de deux for Mia and Seb beneath the streetlights and a splashily colorful jazz ballet in front of a conspicuously painted and lighted and silhouette-shaded theatrical backdrop\u2014are studious, effortful, rehearsed to death, personality-free, and lacking in the essential factor: wonder. Chazelle strives to impress, to wow, to dazzle\u2014but not to inspire; his musical ideas and visual sensibility are jolting neither in their surfaces nor in their substance, neither in their action nor in their images; they close off the imagination rather than opening it.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n Genau: Die gro\u00dfen alten Filmmusicals hatten eben diesen Effekt – “Ui! Wie haben sie das blo\u00df gemacht?!” La La Land<\/i> dagegen war Musicalspielen-Darstellung.<\/p>\n Und so sehr ich die Musik des Films mochte, wunderte ich mich doch hier\u00fcber:<\/p>\n \u201cI don\u2019t wanna hear the free jazz,\u201d the boss tells him. But, when Seb nonetheless takes matters into his own hands, what he plays sounds nothing like free jazz\u2014it\u2019s a maudlin little waltz that he then turns bombastic, much closer to Eddy Duchin or Liberace than to Cecil Taylor or, for that matter, Art Tatum, who\u2019d have had no trouble making great jazz from Christmas carols.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n Und schlie\u00dflich \u00fcber die \u00c4sthetik:<\/p>\n Chazelle\u2019s classics skip a few generations; he films as if nothing of importance has happened since the nineteen-sixties\u2014the age when artists overturned conventions and shattered the bonds of classicism. He venerates and celebrates bygone methods and mannerisms because he applies them like formulas\u2014and those formulas take the place of original creation, of a spontaneous sense of style and a natural, personal sense of beauty.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n \u00a7<\/p>\n Die Fernsehsendungen Kunst und Krempel<\/i>, Bares f\u00fcr Rares<\/i> lasse ich ja ganz gern nebenher laufen. In der Hoffnung, dass dort mal etwas passiert wie bei dieser der BBC Antiques Roadshow<\/a>. Den k\u00f6stlichen Cr\u00e9mant bezahlte ich mit einer n\u00e4chtlichen Migr\u00e4neattacke, Marke Hackebeil im Auge. Zum Gl\u00fcck fr\u00fch genug in der Nacht, dass ich bis zum Weckerklingeln Zeit f\u00fcr Triptan und Komaschlaf hatte. An Fr\u00fchsport war dann allerdings nicht zu denken. \nInteressant finde ich unter anderem, dass dieses Kleid (im Gegensatz zu den im Fashion Museum in Bath<\/a> gezeigten) nicht f\u00fcr eine sehr d\u00fcnne Frau geschneidert scheint.
